1940s Swiss Vintage Folk Art Keepsakes Woodbox, Artist Signed & Hand Painted
This charming Swiss vintage folk art, hand painted and artist signed wood box is a delight for the eye with it’s colourful, autumnal flower pattern. Painted during winter 1943 in Switzerland.
A wonderful wooden container for all your witchy supplies. Or to stash away your jewellery or small art supplies. How about using it to store your tea collection? The possibilities are many.
This lovely trinket box would look lovely as part of your autumn decor.
I can just imagine the artist sitting in her chamber, a cup of steaming tea or hot chocolate by her side, a candle burning, happily painting away at her then new wooden box, bringing it to life with her love of florals, colour and detail. Maybe patiently waiting for winter to pass. And I can’t help but wonder, what she had used it for…
Condition:
The crack at the bottom is normal due to the nature of the pine wood from which the box is manufactured.
There are signs of wear and some scratching, as shown in the photos, which is no surprise considering the box is from the 1940s. All of this just adds to the charm and beauty of this unique piece of peasant artwork.
